AIX MIGRATION CONSULTANT
Responsibilities
As part of our growing Professional Services Team, this is a temporary to permanent opportunity, initially focused on providing consulting services to one of our clients on a large AIX v5.3 to v6.1/7.1 upgrade project of an estimated 260 LPAR’s. You will be responsible for aspects of planning and coordination with clients administrators and business/application units on application and third party product readiness for AIX v6/7, hardware compatibility and ultimately implementing AIX upgrades. Additionally, you will be responsible for coordinating testing and acceptance as upgrades are rolled out through development, test, production, and disaster recovery environments.
On-site services are required primarily in the Rhode Island area (production) and occasionally in the Boston (DR) locations for up to 40 hours per week starting in September 2011 and extending through April 2012. Occasional collaboration with other Daymark team member at our corporate offices in Burlington, MA will also be required.
Requirements
- Strong experience with IBM AIX v5.3, and v6.1 in a fully virtualized PowerVM environment.
- Significant experience with IBM AIX and Power5/6 servers including hands-on implementation and administration of fully virtualized Power servers, Hardware Management Console (HMC) functions, Virtual IO Servers (VIOS), vSCSI, Shared Ethernet Adapters (SEA) and HEA adapters.
- Strong experience performing AIX updates and upgrades utilizing IBM Network Installation Manager (NIM), alt-root and other methods that reduce down-time, risk with solid fall-back plans.
- Strong organizational, communication and documentation skills required with an emphasis on participating and leading large AIX upgrade projects.
- 4 plus years experience as Architect, Administrator of production AIX, fully virtualized environments.
- Recent experience with Blade Logic a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Project a plus
- Experience and/or knowledge of AIX v7 a plus
- Experience with IBM Director managing AIX environments a plus
